I did and three days later, I got a reply, saying,

"Sorry you can't afford your bill. Is there anything we can do to help?"

The next day, I got my revised, lower bill. Then the same old price...

I think Octopus are all about the show rather than actual service. I’m amazed anyone actually wins!

My mum is on really low income and applied for help from the Octopus fund. They responded saying my mum appears to have filled out the form incorrectly, so thank you very much and goodbye. Except I helped my mum with the form and it wasn’t incorrect. So think they do gestures every now and then to advertise themselves as a fun and consumer friendly company - such as the very odd person winning on the spin!

Octopus have always been brilliant for me! Every time I've contacted them they've responded within an hour.

You get two spins for each fuel on a smart meter and it doesn't require manually submitting readings. You just log in and it'll show the link to spin in your usage section.

Did you actually speak to them about it? Resubmit the form? I've found their customer service agents really good.

Yes! We asked them what was wrong with the form, and they never said and instead offered to reduce the monthly payments.

I’m with them too, and I like how easy they are for managing your account. But genuinely think their “we care” approach isn’t as caring as they try to claim after their response to my mum’s application.

I've never won and am pissed off with them, because they over-estimated our meter by 2,000 units! I sent in a reading and they reduced the monthly payment from £370 to £170 and a week later, told me I owe them £2,000 and my next bill will be...

..... £370!

They tried to get me to up my payments because they expect me to use x amount more over the next 12 months. I'm already paying more than I use even in winter. I want their crystal ball maybe it could give me the winning lottery numbers.

It glitched last month for me and let me have 3 spins and I won £1 off with each go. Grin

Also got £100 credited to my account from their fund.
And got a very nice electric blanket from them.
And a very nice fixed rate back when everything when to shit with prices as we phoned up saying 'help, we won’t be able to pay when the prices go up'.

A mate moved and I got 50, and so did she

Dad moved and I got 50 and so did he, plus he now gets bills when he wants not like EDF that were 6 monthly. Terrible when He was trying to work things out last winter.

I had a stupidly low two year fix from June 2020 to June 2022. I took ages finding it as I thought the price would go up (a bit, not like it did) and Octopus at June 2020 were about the only company with a decent 2 year fix.

But the constant nagging for a smart meter is annoying. I agree with that as there is NO WAY I'm getting one. I've heard too many horror stories.
