Does turning the router off slow down the internet connection?

Is it true that turning the router off can slow down the internet connection (download speed)? I've often turned it off overnight but now I'm wondering as at the moment, the connection is running very slow indeed. Pages taking longer to load.

Started doing it to save electric but willing to stop if it's affecting speeds!

Thank you for all the helpful suggestions. Knew they'd come eventually!

@Dbank - thank you for your understanding. Yes, it is distressing, isn't it? It can drive you mad and you look for ANY solutions.

When the unhelpful responses come, it can make you feel like you're a bit daft, so it's lovely to get proper ones ;-)

I work for openreach yes it does
pickup up on the drop in sync and slow it down because it thinks it’s dropping out because it’s unstable so slow connection more stable
it will cap the speed as well

all that said people are stupidly obsessed with speed realistically unless your on a mega game or uploading/downloading mega files once you get over 30 meg unless there loads of people using devices you’ll not notice the difference

spend hours and hours with customers complaining about how they aren’t getting there 100 Meg then point me to there ancient laptop on Wi-Fi connection
