Which air fryer should I buy?

After every person I’ve ever met has sung the praises of the air fryer I’ve decided to buy one. I’ve spent the last two days trawling through hundreds of options and my head is too scrambled to make a sensible decision.

If you have an air fryer you love please could you recommend it to me? I live alone, occasionally meal prep and I’m not sure if I need a one or two drawer version.

Thank you!

I have the dual Ninja and it's amazing. I like having two drawers as can do a full meal, i.e sausages in one and roast veg in the other.

Lovegood · 15/08/2023 15:46

To help, this is what I've made in mine over the past week:

-bacon / sausages
-chicken kievs
-jacket potatoes
-chicken Parmo / roast veg
-chicken nuggets

I do love my ninja dual but how the hell do you give it a proper clean? The grill part, not the drawers. I think I'd go cheaper next time and replace more often, just because it feels a bit grubby.

I've got the ninja multicooker - not just an air-fryer, best thing I've ever bought! I hardly ever use my oven as I cook everything in the multicooker!!

Following with interest..... how long do you cook the jacket potatoes for - and do they come out with a crispy skin?

CointreauVersial · 15/08/2023 16:09

I have a one-drawer Gourmia from Costco - it's brilliant, and cost just over £40, so an absolute bargain.

I'm quite adept at cooking both parts of a meal in the same drawer - just add/remove/turn as necessary. I would say it's usually just DH and me mostly - if I was looking for a family airfryer it wouldn't perhaps be big enough.

I'm have the two drawer 🥷

I cook everything in it and haven't used my oven since Boxing Day 2022.

Roast pork is particularly good.

So easy! Just fill the drawer up with hot water above the crisper tray with a few squirts of fairy, leave while we eat, then wash it out... takes two mins

@Ilikewinter We had the huge ones today. First rub in oil and salt, stab, cook on air fry for 1.5 hours. Easy peasy!

Smaller ones only take an hour.

Lovegood · 15/08/2023 17:20

And yes! crispy skins!

userxx · 16/08/2023 16:01

@Lovegood I meant the heating element bit at the top, how do you clean that.?

Maltybiscuit · 16/08/2023 16:34

Ninja Speedi , no contest.

Furries · 16/08/2023 16:55

I live on my own. Have got the Ninja dual drawer. As pp said, it’s great for doing meat in one and potatoes/veg etc in the other. Hardly use my oven now.

Jacket potatoes takes around 45-50 mins.

Are any of these big enough for a family of 4 (with 2 teenage gannets)?

I'd get the ninja 9.5L. Have a look on youtube to see how much fits in it, there's only 2 of us in my house so I got the slightly smaller 7.6L.

LadyR77 · 18/08/2023 13:39

Another vote for the Ninja dual drawer (we have the 7.6L and it's fine for the 3 of us - me, DH and DS10). It's brilliant!

@LakeFlyPie yes, the bigger ninja dual. And it's so helpful that DC can just grab frozen chicken of some kind out of the freezer and make themselves something to eat!

DS had chicken nuggets tonight.
