Takeaways (col)

Omg on diet so not been getting takeaways, thought would treat children to takeaway as oh away and I'll just get few chips for me to save cooking.

Can't believe the prices of things and that's before factoring in delivery costs and the 30% mark up places seem to add to be in Uber/just eat.

Large chips £4.40-£4.70
Kids meals £4.99

Actually quite shocked.

Having to reduce the order and I'll have a toasted, promised kids so don't want to disappoint them.

@BarbaraofSeville

Depends a bit on the restaurant, I order directly from domino's and the local Indian restaurant who deliver, nobody else delivers here unfortunately, there is only 2 places on Uber eats and never a driver available anyway, the only places on Deliveroo are subway (can make my own sandwich), coop and Waitrose, oh and costa (can make own coffee!) quite odd here as there are takeaways, none do delivery though

"That's £13.87 (£6.99, £3.99 & £3.39)"

Well it is if you add up different prices to what I said 🤣🤣 A saver meal and 2 kids meals is just over £10 and you'll earn points on that too. Their app is quite good.

Anyway. I was only commenting on this narrative of "well you can easily spend £10 on a Big Mac meal" which is way off the truth.

We don't have many takeaways but if we have Chinese go to one that delivers direct for 2.00 or collect. 3 of us but just get set meal for one. I do some extra rice, just a 49p aldi microwave one and a small extra dish with say frozen 250g chicken and some frozen stir fry I have in with a 50p aldi sauce. Works out about 14.00 all in. Sometimes do a few oven chips in air fryer. Thought would do just eat as had a 5.00 off voucher. Cldnt believe it was 4.99 just for rice. I remember when a main meal was that much. Stuck with local one in end worked out cheaper. As everyone said things are just getting mad.

Why would you order a takeaway and then cook.
That makes zero sense to me.

It’s more than £10 for fish and chips at our local place. It’s not a massive feeds the whole family portion either. I really can’t afford to go anymore. I suspect fakeaway is the way forward. Aldis beer battered haddock and chips cooked in the air fryer, mushy peas and homemade tartar sauce feeds the whole family for less than £10.

Home made pizza is really nice and cheap unless they like expensive toppings. I like to pop in to markies as you sometimes hit the jackpot on yellow sticker Thai/ Indian/ Chinese food.

Because its a treat for my son but I can't afford to spend lots on dishes. Does not take very long to cook what I do. Sorry you don't approve!
