Coventry and surrounds - restaurant recommendation following graduation

Last year it was Loughborough and we managed to find somewhere nice. This year it is Coventry and I don't know where to start.

Can anywhere recommend a nice restaurant for a post-graduation meal. I need to book soon as the ceremony is on the 18th.

Doesn't have to be acutally in Coventry. Happy to drive out of the city but not too far preferably as have to drive back to North London afterwards and someone else is going in the other direction.

Have previously been to the Rose and Crown in Warwick which was lovely and am happy to go back there if I can't find anything else. We will have a vegan with us so has to be something on the menu for them as well.

Saxon Mill on the edge of Warwick is nice, and on the way to the M40, so headed the right direction

Telegraph hotel is good

Eleven in Leamington, if you like French food.

What sort of food do you want? There are lots of restaurants in the city centre (mostly chains) Botanist, Turtle Bay, Bistro Pierre, Las Iguanas.

Came here to recommend The Saxon Mill and see that @123ZYX already has - it’s a posh pub but it really does have a special feel to it. It’s next to the river and has a waterwheel inside.

The Cross in Kenilworth has a Michelin star or failing that Hampton Manor has Grace and Favour or Smoke on-site. These three are all popular for graduation meals.

Something a little more special, preferably not a chain. Somewhere I can pre-book as being graduation day the city is going to be busy.

Nah, friends had a meal there the other night and it was awful, its really not a place to go for a meal

Harringtons is lovely, as is The Cross

Not been to Eleven, but want to

Friends yesterday went to the new Turkish restaurant on Regent Street Otto - they said it was fantastic and very generous

Rose and Crown in Warwick

White Lion at Radford Semele has reopened and is the same company Peach Pubs - but White Lion is a much nicer setting and with a carpark not in a town centre. Bit further away though. The almanac at Kenilworth is also the same company Peachy pubs

I would avoid The Saxon Mill, its not as good as it used to be.

The Cape Of Good Hope in Warwick is lovely.

The Hatton Arms - Hatton, on the way to Warwick
The Telegraph - centre of Coventry
The Almanack - Kenilworth

bobisbored · 04/07/2023 20:00

Harringtons or Queen and Castle in Kenilworth are both lovely, or The Falcon at Hatton.

MEgirl · 04/07/2023 20:05

Quite a bit of choice you've all given me. I'm sure we'll now be able to find something to suit all 4 of us.

the setting of the Saxon Mill is absolutely beautiful though especially if you book a table overlooking the river

Jellifer · 04/07/2023 20:21

The Boot at a Lapworth or the Hatton Arms both have lovely food.
