Suncream for dd11 that won’t irritate face

Littlemiss74 · 25/06/2023 08:50

My dd11 has broken out in a spotty red rash on her face since using Nivea Sun 50 daily. It happened while she was on a school trip for a few days. It’s fine on the rest of her body.
Can anyone recommend something for the face that won’t cause this please? There are so many sun products & I’m assuming they must all contain similar things to act as sun protection so not really sure what to try next. Thank you

You could try a face specific cream

The only suncream that doesn't make my sons face look spotty and burnt is Child's Farm.

Be warned though - it stains white clothes

Is she washing her face properly at night? Just because irritation/spots with suncream can be due to not washing it off properly rather than anything to do with the suncream itself. Plus at 11 it’s a good routine to be getting her into anyway.

Altruist is excellent, suits my whole family. We’re pretty sensitive skinned in general

This is the only thing that doesn’t leave me sore La Roche-Posay Anthelios Hydrating Cream Spf50 50Ml, I use it every day on my face and neck, a tube lasts six-months daily use, it’s worth every single penny. It’s £16 so not a bargain, but it works, doesn’t irritate and isn’t greasy/staining.

My daughter can only use this suncream at the moment.
She could use p20 before, but it seems to have changed ingredients and she came out in a rash.

Another vote for Altruist.

There are two types of sunscreen. The mineral ones are usually better for those with sensitivity/allergies.

I’ve been using Altruist on my baby DD who has quite severe eczema and so far she has had no reaction to it. It was made by a UK dermatologist and saw it recommended on here and it’s been great so far, not too expensive either.

Garnier invisible protect. Only thing doesn't make my daughter have a rash, she used to get it on body too but not with this product.

I swear by La Roche Posay Anthelios range. I have very oily skin due to PCOS and it’s the only thing that doesn’t break my skin out in spots. They do kid’s specific suncream too.

You can buy it in Boots or look online as it is usually on offer somewhere.
