Posting for traffic.

I am currently on ozempic but there is a national shortage.
Does anyone know if I could buy it in a Spanish pharmacy ? How would I go about getting it prescribed ?

My Dad has to do this recently as he ended up staying in Spain longer than intended. He got the GP to email him his prescription (I suppose you could take your prescription) and he took it to a private doctor who used that evidence to write a private script for the local pharmacy. There is however also a shortage in Spain but not as bad as UK. Good luck.

I don't have a prescription it's prescribed privately when I order a pen. If there's a shortage in Spain though I doubt they would sell it to a tourist 🤦🏽

No you can’t buy it over the counter it has to be prescribed.

Sorry I should have been clearer

I know I need a prescription but I won't have one from the UK so I'm wondering how I could get one in Spain if I was able to buy ozempic over there. I know I can't just go into a pharmacy to buy it so I am trying to figure out how I could get it

If you are seeing a private Dr though- they can still write out a prescription! Didn't realise it would be accepted abroad though! Are you in the UK op? What about a day trip to france? No idea on availability there, or whether they accept a UK script- but its closer than Spain.

Private prescriptions written by EU doctors are valid in the uk.

So I would imagine there is a reciprocal agreement the other way if you have a UK written private prescription, you could probably get it dispensed in Spain.

You'd need a prescription from a private Dr in Spain last time I went it was €65 for the consultation then I paid for the meds.

When I was living in Spain the pharmacies wouldn't accept a UK prescription, I had to register with the local GP and get them to prescribe what I needed.
