Just wanted to pick the mumsnet brain for suggestions of where to stay In Liverpool. It’s for a sort of work related event so not a romantic trip away but I’ve had a really really rubbish time recently so would love to stay somewhere nice . Not crazy expensive and not too far from Liverpool Lime St!! Don’t know Liverpool at all.. and any suggestions of what to see while I’m there . Will be there 4 days

Another vote for the Hope St Hotel - great area, lovely rooms, not too far from Lime St

Rainhill hall is lovely, but far out maybe? £20 Uber into town

Things to see
Liverpool Biennial is on so lots of art around - FACT on Wood St (creative technology galleries and indie cinema), Bluecoat Arts Centre has exhibitions and a lovely garden right in city centre, TATE Liverpool and public art works all over www.biennial.com
World Museum/Walker Art Gallery (sculpture gallery divine) Maritime Museum on the dock (slavery gallery incredible, very moving) Garstang Museum of Egyptology, quirky, amazing collection.
2 cathedrals - 10 mins walk from each other along a lovely street
Train to Crosby to see the Anthony Gormley public art work on the beach (there is a bar on the beach)
Ferry cross the Mersey
Bold Street for independent shops and places to eat - Mowgli and Maray recommended, Bold St coffee and Leaf for drinks.
Hardman House photography - National Trust
Beatles Childhood Homes - National Trust
Sefton Park Palmhouse

Avoid Concert Square and Matthew Street and the pubs near Lime St unless you want to indulge in some binge-drinking/karaoke, Sweet Caroline starts around 11am every day

Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art

Liverpool Biennial is the largest festival of contemporary visual art in the UK. Taking place every two years across the city in public spaces, galleries and museums.

The Titanic is a lovely hotel but not really walking distance with luggage, as I found out to my cost. Stayed there one night and to be honest it's a bit of a waste of money unless you use the bar/restaurant/Spa etc. If you just want somewhere to lay your head then the hotel by the arena and big wheel has great views. Used to be Jury's Inn.

I have colleagues who travel to Liverpool for work and they recommend the Aloft on the corner of Dale Street

1000% hope street hotel! Get room service dinner from the Italian downstairs, have a bath and if you've got time, use the spa. Bliss.

The Premier Inn on Albert Dock is fab - cheap and excellent location and good condition etc.

Agree the adlphi is grim.

This ghost tour in the grounds of the Anglican Cathedral is well worth considering! www.talesfromthenecropolis.co.uk/
