Might be nice to fill it with water and put it out for any passing thirsty hedgehogs/cats/foxes/other wildlife who might be passing through in the night.

This only occurred to me when i came across a 'feral' community cat drinking out of my kids paddling pool Blush

Depends where your door step is I suppose. long story, but I'm stuck in an upstairs flat, there's a balcony, but it's second floor, up concrete stairs.... & not allowed to have anything on it😮🙇🏻‍♀️

I have to make do with pigeons nesting in the neighbours trees.

A few magpies have been using the dcs water play station to bath and dribk in. I have been putting fresh water in each morning, Then again after school. There was 4 on there at once today

RainBow725 · 16/06/2023 00:27

I have been doing this too. I have to refill it 2-3 times a day when I'm wfh. The big birds have a bath and empty it out! The squirrels often come for a drink too.

XenoBitch · 16/06/2023 00:41

I have a ground level bird bath thing in my garden. Went to change the water earlier, to find my dog had taken a very targeted shit in it Shock

I've got a bird bath (pedestal type) in the back garden, as well as an old roasting tin (deep) full of water, for foxes/badgers, plus a smaller tin for hedgehogs. They must all get thirsty in this weather. A squirrel was in the birdbath the other day - actually IN it.

BoogiemanSam · 16/06/2023 13:40

They’re definitely utilising ours. We had a fox drinking out of the one at the bottom
of the garden this morning while we were in the garden, it seemed nervous of us but desperate the poor thing. We always keep them topped up so I wonder if it just knows we have water so came out of need.

BunnyBettChetwynnd · 16/06/2023 22:12

Gilead · 16/06/2023 22:36

We have an old baking tin in the garden, filled with stones and water, birds love it.

INeedAnotherName · 16/06/2023 22:49

I have several (7) scattered about. A tall pedestal and a knee height one, the others are on the floor. I have to fill them up three times a day for various cats, foxes, squirrels, hedgehogs and birds. The poor things are seriously thirsty at the moment 😦

*note to self. I now need a gravel filled one 😣

AngryPrincess · 16/06/2023 22:52

I put out a few cleaned out containers from take away food. We used to have loads of them.
