Best pasta shape?

A man stopped me in the supermarket to ask what was the best pasta shape. (He said he hated pasta from taste testing it for years but was cooking for someone else)

I said Spirali, my oldest says penne.

If you had to choose one shape, which is your go-to?

Tagliatelle or penne, depending on what I’m making.

I just love pasta. Lovely lovely pasta.

We have fusilli, conchiglie, spaghetti, linguine, orzo, macaroni, and lasagne sheets in the cupboard at the moment. My daughter banned me from buying more shapes a while ago, but then she went to uni, so it sucks to be her!

Pennette - smaller and narrower penne

A vote for rigatoni. The bigger the better

Obviously it depends on the sauce, but in general I would say penne as a good all rounder.

Came on to say radiatore- unsung heroes of the pasta shape world!

Penne. Shells if no penne available. I hate fusilli🤮 spaghetti is the only acceptable pasta to have with meatballs though.

Radiatori also qualify for Most Satisfying Machine.

Why do we talk about spaghetti and lasagne as though it’s not pasta?

for example, if I’m having penne or fusilli, I will just say I’m having pasta.

If I’m having lasagne or spaghetti, I will just say I’m either having lasagne or spaghetti, rather than saying I’m having pasta.

But we don’t do that for other types of pasta e.g I’ve never said “oh I’m having penne for dinner tonight !”

Alphabet pasta, obviously!

My first choice is spaghetti, then I'm not really bothered.
