Any creative ideas about how to make a drink look like Pimms?!

So I possibly could be pregnant but too early to know yet, and I have a prearranged event this weekend where I’ll be drinking Pimms. It’s only me and few others and we’ve arranged to buy the Pimms ingredients etc so I can’t just say I don’t fancy it, so ideally I’m looking for some solution like a drink I could use to pour in which looks very similar!!

I’ll be at home which is easier to manage but can’t think of non alcoholic alternatives the same colour as Pimms. Obviously I’ll fill up with lemonade and loads of fruit…

Thanks!

They do notice, I tried this last summer when I was about 6w pregnant and got called out on it. I changed tack to accept a drink then made it slowly disappear by pouring it bit by bit down the sink/loo/drain/flowerbed when noone was looking 😆

You have more observant friends than I do!

Still suspect that they're less likely to notice OP not drinking her drink than her sneaking away to mix a different drink and colour-match it to the Pimms 😁

Balsamic vinegar and lemonade non alcoholic fake Pimms is very nice - sounds utterly wierd - but used to drink it quite a lot on summer days watching kids in their sports tournaments, when I needed to drive them home.

Good luck - hope you are pregnant xx

There is a non-alcoholic Pimms for anyone interested, not sure if you'll get it in time for the weekend. Although it might also be on Amazon.

Our local Morrisons has a section where you can buy alcohol free martini, wines and beer etc. The manufacturers of alcohol free drinks have upped their game lately, and this driver is very grateful!

Balsamic vinegar has been mentioned a few times here and I can’t quite get my head around it!! Maybe I’ll give it a go…

Mine absolutely would notice so I’m definitely going to have to do something! Grin

This all sounds very complicated. I'd just accept a glass of Pimms and then not drink it- no one really notices whether you actually drink your drink.

Exactly. I didn't tell anyone I was pregnant until 19 weeks, and got through a lot of family parties by just having a glass of wine in my hand most of the time. It's a bit different if you're in a sitting round a table situation, like in a restaurant, but if you're mobile, no need to drink what you have in your hand.

It's sad that you can't just say to your friends that you don't want to drink. You shouldn't even need a reason. Just enjoy making a non-alcoholic cocktail for yourself instead of the Pimms. If they can't accept that, I'm not sure they are your friends.

You are on antibiotics for a UTI. You daren't drink as you've been in agony and it seems to be working. So you have non alcoholic Pimms-a-like.

Bearpawk · 02/06/2023 12:53

I'd just have a small pimms, it won't hurt you or the baby. Or have lots and keep tipping it/ topping up with lemonade.
Much less obvious than mixing up a different drink.

Thanks, yes maybe will have to keep topping up with lemonade!

Personally I'd just have a few drinks! TTC can take years and if you don't even know if you're pregnant then you can't be putting life on hold for something that you don't know if it's happening!

I second this.. but also.. Peach Ice Tea could work

If you were in Ireland you could use our famed TK red lemonade- a staple of everyone’s childhood

Oh, good idea. Morrisons do it in the U.K.
Asda do it as well but label it brown lemonade 😂

MyYoniSaysNoni · 02/06/2023 14:01

Irn bru? Similar colour. Lucozade.

Better idea would be to say you have a gum infection and are on Metronidazole and we're going to drink (despite dentist's advice) but after googling decided it was a very bad idea.

declutteringmymind · 02/06/2023 22:44

Can you find an excuse to drive?

CrumbliestCrumble · 02/06/2023 22:50

Just say u have an ear infection and on antibiotics. So can't drink after all?

But if were me id just have one. Lots of people drink not even knowing theure pregnant for the first few weeks
