Should I drive a day early and stay over or am I over thinking?

Got a flight to catch on Bank Holiday Monday and the airport is 3 hours drive from my house. Flight is 2.30pm, international.

Considering driving the night before and staying over just on the off-chance that the roads are manic. Am I over thinking?

Should add I'm only questioning this because it's a bank holiday. Normal day I'd not think twice

Yes, you're overthinking it. Definitely give yourself extra time to get there but if it's 3 hours from your house, leaving 4 hours should give you plenty of time. So aim to leave by about 8:30. Make it 8:00 if you're especially nervous.

However, if a night in an airport hotel would be more relaxing for you and you can afford it, go for it!

Ummmm yes. Just leave a bit earlier.

loads of people unlikely to be driving back on that Monday morning anyway are they?

Alongtimelonely · 18/05/2023 14:38

I think I’d just set off at 7am sharp. If traffic is ok you’ll be there at 10am with loads of time to spare - do some airport shopping or sit and read with a coffee wfh olé you wait!

Definitely. In the middle of that exact scenario except for the bank holiday part. Flew home this morning. Beautiful hotel comfort with wine and snacks watching YouTube movies without interruption. It was great!!!

Will have the dc so will definetly need a loo break halfway through but yes I think setting off at 7/7.30am will be best.

Enjoyed my peaceful poo the most. No dogs or toddlers watching me 🤣

Okay then ignore my posts. Definitely not hotel worthy 🤣

Also, no luggage to check in - just flight bags.
