Two nights in NYC

I'm visiting NYC in July with older parents (not exactly elderly, but not as mobile as they once were!).
We have 1 day (2 nights) spare in the city and I'd love some recommendations of something to do and any lovely hotels you've stayed in.
Flying in to JFK if that makes any difference.

Went to NYC a few weeks ago and was really annoyed with myself on day 3 when I realised I could have asked ChatGPT for an itinerary. So:-

One Day Itinerary in New York City for an Adult and Their Parents:
Morning:

  1. Start your day with a visit to the iconic Times Square. Marvel at the bright lights, billboards, and bustling atmosphere of this famous landmark.
  2. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at a nearby café or diner. Try classic New York staples like bagels with cream cheese, lox, and a cup of freshly brewed coffee.
  3. Take a leisurely stroll through Central Park. Explore the park's beautiful landscapes, visit famous sites like Bethesda Terrace and Bow Bridge, and admire the tranquil beauty of nature in the heart of the city.
Afternoon:
  1. Head to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and immerse yourselves in the world of modern and contemporary art. Admire masterpieces by renowned artists like Picasso, Van Gogh, and Warhol.
  2. Take a break for lunch at a nearby restaurant or grab a quick bite at one of the food vendors in the area. There are plenty of options to choose from, ranging from casual cafes to upscale dining establishments.
  3. Visit the Top of the Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Center. Take an elevator to the top and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline, including iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building and Central Park.
Evening:
  1. Explore the vibrant neighborhood of Chelsea. Visit the High Line, an elevated park built on an old railway track, offering stunning views of the city and unique art installations. Take a leisurely walk and enjoy the greenery and tranquility above the bustling streets.
  2. Indulge in a delightful dinner at one of the trendy restaurants in Chelsea. The area is known for its diverse culinary scene, so you can find cuisine options from around the world.
  3. Wrap up your day with a Broadway show. Purchase tickets in advance for a memorable evening of live entertainment. Choose from a variety of shows, ranging from musicals to plays, and enjoy the talent and energy of the performers.

It struggled with 2 nights, one day so I just asked it for one day but you could ask for 2 days to get an idea for the other night.

Oh and we stayed at the new Virgin hotel. Would recommend. Great location in particular.
