What does your ultimate holiday home look like?

I ended up looking at amazing holiday homes on YouTube. So that got me thinking. If I won - say - one or two million pounds/dollars/euro, to spend on a holiday home abroad (am in the UK), I'd probably buy a white-washed villa in Greece with sea views and a swimming pool, with an outside kitchen with built in BBQ, a beautiful garden, a sort of outside living room like they have in the US/Australia where it's hot for a large part of the year, a few guest rooms for my friends to stay, beautiful lighting inside and out, a large en suite, beautiful tiles everywhere. And of course a daily cleaner, and a regular gardener. I could learn how to clean the pool myself. Mind you, I may not get that for one or two million!

Much the same as yours! I even have a Greek interiors book for full-on daydreaming.

Just a little place would do, near a town where I could wander down for coffee and cake etc. and buy fruit and veg and stuff for meals. Simple whitewashed place, just the one bedroom (sofa bed for emergencies), then I wouldn't have the world and its mother wanting to use it and/or stay with me, yes I am a selfish git.

It would have to have a balcony big enough for a little table and a sunchair, or a patio. Air con or ceiling fans a must. Simple furniture, blue shutters and some lovely bougainvillea and geraniums growing up the walls or across a pergola.

That's all. I wouldn't need a million quid for that. And it wouldn't require much maintenance either. Too much money means too much responsibility and ahem, possibly mixing with brash new moneyed types. Nope.

It would be in the Aude region of Southern France. I know a place I would love and look longingly on Le Bon Coin website every weekend and dream on.
