Anyone had a negative pregnancy test result (after period was due) but was actually pregnant?

I took both tests from the chemist’s cheapest pregnancy test double-pack yesterday and both were negative. My period is 6 days late, so I didn’t test early. I feel pregnant. I’m not, am I? Until my period comes my mind keeps convincing me I might be…

But I can’t be after two negative tests, can I…?

Did it happen to anyone else?

There wasn’t even a sniff of a faint line.

Bang on 28 days - almost always! This is very unusual for me. I think that’s why it’s messing with my head!

Oh crickey , if you've been TTC it is possible that you are pregnant and it's just too soon to register on the cheapo test kits.

Any signs of period imminent that you would normally expect ?

My first dc is in their mid-20s now and I was still testing negative at 7 weeks.

Definitely been TTC. I’ve got VERY sore boobs (like the shower hurts them) and feel a little headachey, which is how pregnancy felt to me at the beginning last time.

But, at six days late, and 2 negative tests, am I kidding myself?! I’m overthinking everything!

My experiences are some some time ago when you had to hand a urine sample in to the surgery for them to test. GP said not pregnant, just a woman of a certain age being delusional. DD now age 21 😂

I was 9 days late before I got a faint line, almost 2 weeks when they really started showing up. DD is now 7. Fingers crossed OP.

Some tests are low sensitivity and some are high. Try another test in a few days xxx

I didn’t get a positive until I was three weeks late! Turns out I’d ovulated a bit later than normal.

I was nearly 2 weeks late for my period before I for my BFP with dd2.
It's not over 'til the fat lady sings!

This sounds unbelievable, but with my DD16 I never tested positive, even did one at 4 months to see if it would ever show!

Oh wow ok!! Thank you everyone! So it really can happen! It sounds like it really isn’t over until Aunt Flo comes to town (or not!).

I would get a FRER if I were you as they’re much more sensitive so might give you a clearer result.

Yup. Tested at 3 days late and got a negative. Did another a week later and got the positive. 6 months later, my triplets were born. 😉

Negative tests in the early days are not uncommon due to low hormone levels/low sensitivity tests. The general rule of thumb is you can have a negative test when you are pregnant, but rarely get a positive test when you aren't pregnant (unless chemical pregnancy).

I tested negative after being sure I was pregnant again (second pregnancy) but tested negative. After no period for another week I did another which was positive and now have a boisterous ten year old.

I always presumed I had peed on the stick wrong somehow to get the negative when I was clearly pregnant just like I thought I was!

I had 2 negative pregnancy tests when I was expecting DD35, when I would have been around 6 weeks pregnant.

Yep, tested negative at a week late and then left it another week (because I’m tight 😂) before doing another one, which, despite having loads of symptoms, was still a shock! The morning sickness started two days later. Good luck OP! I was like clockwork with my periods too.

Gosh thanks everyone! I think I am also going to try not to tempt fate / possibly waste money and wait until the weekend - if no period then, I’ll buy one of the sensitive tests like someone suggested.

Still no period today! And I did a big workout this morning! In the back of my mind I was thinking: should I be doing this?! Haha.

Had intimacy on 3rd of August,took a pill and started bleeding on the 6th of August,fast forward on,I saw my period on the 7th of September but since Thursday 14th of September i have been feeling pregnancy symptoms like headache.
Does this mean i am pregnant?

I tested at 5 days late and got a negative. Was always like clockwork. Short period came the next day so I was confused but assumed body just wasn't happy. About two weeks later I felt sick as a dog so retested and was positive - i was about 5ish weeks pregnant at that point (using nhs tinelines with the two additional weeks)! They reckon I just ovulated late and had an implantation bleed hence the weird period.
