Long plane journey, DCs 11 and 8

OK I know they will mainly watch their devices or the in flight entertainment but when I was little and my mum took us home to her home country (8-10 hour flight) she used to produce new toys every so often - I distinctly remember my Fisher Price Little People being produced on a plane.
I am thinking of travel games, a lunch box (DS has some SEN and can be a slightly fussy eater so this might work if he won't eat the plane meal too), a book each. I am also aware it might get very heavy if I don't cut down the size especially if I want to produce more than 2 or 3 things each.
DS will probably reject anything we produce except a new Bunny vs Monkey book and several bags of Skittles, but I'm going to try a Where's Wally book and travel Snakes and Ladders.

bring good headphones for each child for their device
and kids magazines that you can buy at the airport can also be good for trips.

At 11 and 8 I think that decent headphones and a magazine, book or graphic novel each would be enough, with Unonas a backup. They really don’t need a stream of novelties at that age when there are slightly inappropriate films to be watched on the inflight entertainment!

Headphones, new book, puzzle book, pack of cards. Mine travelled a lot younger than that and no need to keep producing new things. The travel games pieces are too small

Decent headphones, plus universal adapter kit and snacks.
Forget the rest, you will just lug it around airports.

Honestly, at their age their devices, headphones and in flight entertainment will be enough. And maybe a book to read, if they are readers.

When my kids were young, I had a few surprises to break up the flight but by the ages your kids are they weren’t wanted or needed. Travel games/cards really won’t be played with.

At the most, bring a lunch box with fun-size sweets/bars/crackers.

DS in particular is quite immature but is more likely to read or watch/play. We have only just got him willing to wear headphones (he may not be willing to switch to wired ones for the in flight entertainment but we should practice if we want to try that). DD will probably like playing but I've never been able to get either of them to play Uno annoyingly as I like it!
I am slightly worried DS won't eat any of the in flight food though.
