Pregnancy at 45 with coil???!

I was wondering if anyone has got pregnant at about this age with the merena coil? I'm now two weeks over my due date and am usually very regular but also realise this lateness wouldn't be that surprising given my age. I'm starting to feel sick but not sure if it's due to feeling a little bit terrified that I might have accidentally conceived. I have two teenage children already, husband just about to turn 50. Another baby was definitely not in the plan....

Have you done a test?

justmyluck1234 · 16/05/2023 12:45

I suppose nothing is impossible, all you can do is take a test and find out.

My first thought was peri-menopause. The only way to know you're pregnant is to take a test.

At 45 I'm surprised you are assuming pregnancy rather than menopause. Do you have any other symptoms of pregancy? Have a test and if it's positive then start a thread.

Take a test.

If you had sex in the fertile window there's always a chance however unlikely. Go and get a cheap test. You'll find out in no time!

My best friend got pregnant in her thirties with the coil. It ended in miscarriage. It can happen.

Take a test just in case, good luck

Very unlikely if you can still feel you coil threads.

The mirena often stops periods so I wouldn't be worried about a late period on mirena. I didn't have a period for 10 years while using it.

Test was negative. So peri menopause I guess it must be. Periods like clockwork usually even with coil so a bit disconcerting to miss one but to be expected I suppose.
