£50 notes-can anyone who works in a bank or such advise me..

I have some £50 notes that I've kept for nostalgic reasons only, but I don't want them to go obsolete either.

If I take them to a bank to exchange for new ones, could I ask for new £50notes, or will it be a case of they'll change them for new notes but 'You'll get what you're given?'

Thanks

You can ask and if they have them they will give them to you, but not all banks/branches keep £50 notes in stock to be honest, there isn't much demand for them.

Thank you :)
I may ring ahead if that's the case, I'm miles from any banks and they all involve a £15 parking charge or a long bus ride!

I'm in a village but nearest city is Leeds. I can do the park and ride but last time I did that I had to wait over half an hour for a parking space to be available! I have a post office nearby but they'll only pay them into my bank rather than exchange them for cash.

Why don't you pay them in at the PO and then when you have to go into town, get the new notes ?

Judydoes2 · 16/05/2023 13:18

That's not a bad idea @ClemmyTine , thank you

On a side note -excuse the pun!! I paid £9.00 for parking in central leeds on a ' park on my drive way.com' type place for 24 hrs . There were some other places near by with 2 hr free parking but I needed longer

Judydoes2 · 16/05/2023 17:54

Thank you-I'll have a look at that.

Sure you've moved on, but just spend them?
