Hello,

We have decided that we don't want anymore children and DH will go for vasectomy. NHS waiting lists are currently 18 months plus in our area and I thought my private health insurance would cover it however Aviva have stated this morning that they don't 🙄

I have just contacted my local private hospital and overall cost is £1875! Is this in keeping with what others have paid?

Thanks

That seems a lot!! It’s a twenty minute procedure

My DH got done recently. £675, but we aren’t in England if that makes a difference

We were also told 18 months plus on the nhs but in reality it was about 2 months. It was such a smooth process and dh was really well looked after (op actually took place in private hospital). So don’t give up on the nhs option.

Also I definitely felt there was a lot of male privilege going on in the whole process, compared to my nhs gynae/pg experiences!

My DP was told last year it was at least a 12 month wait in our area for NHS procedure. Within a few weeks he'd had a date offered in the nearest city (he said no as it's too far away) and they quickly contacted him with an appointment in our local town for a couple of months wait which he accepted and went through with.

There's a chance your area is the same and the lengthy wait isn't actually the case.

DH joined the NHS waiting list (18mths) and was sent a letter within 3weeks and the procedure was done within 7weeks.
