What age for DC to play out if you're not around?

My DC are 11 & 13 and often play out, but there is always one of us at home. If I have to go out and leave them, I will let them stay indoors but they're not allowed outside. They don't have an issue with this as it means screen time!

But what age are you happy for them to come and go during the day if you are e.g. in an office 30 minutes or 1 hour away?

Leave the 13 year old to come and go as she pleases, she’s sensible. 10 year old can be home alone for an hour or 2, and also play out for a few hours if I’m home. 8 year olds and under I don’t let them out alone at all or home alone at all.

Last year when DD was in Year 6 (10/11yos) I was aware that some of her friends that she was playing with after school parents were not at home.

Younger DD is in year 5 and I know one of her friends is similar but there's a grandmother nearby (and teenage sibling at home)
