Has anyone ever had DVT?

Going out of my mind with worry here.

Does this look like it? I had a 9 hour flight last Tuesday (9th) although 2 days later I had quite a bad fall over a lose paving slab and banged my knees up pretty badly so when I first noticed this I thought it was from the fall.

Now my ankles (although both not just the side with this) have swollen and the leg this is on feels quite tight.

I think I'm going to have to try & see a doctor tomorrow but I'm reluctant as there's only me & DD here.

Has anyone ever had DVT?

I had a DVT during my first pregnancy, and had very few symptoms other than initial pain, followed by a consistent weird feeling in my leg when I walked. Because I'm paranoid, I went to get it checked, and it turns out that one time, my hypochondria was justified...

If it feels hot and sore and swollen, it's worth getting it checked anyway, whether it's a DVT or not. If it is, you need to know so you can start the blood thinners as soon as possible, and if it's not, at least you'll know and can stop worrying about it. Here, they check for DVT with an ultrasound of the affected area, if it's a clot they can see it immediately - I guess it will be similar in the UK. The blood thinner injections aren't a lot of fun, but you get used to them eventually - they're better than taking the risk of a pulmonary embolism, anyway!

Good luck - please try not to worry about it, the chances are that you just hurt it when you fell, especially if both legs don't feel right. But do get it checked, just in case - untreated DVTs can cause bigger problems.

I had one, it went to my lung and went undiagnosed for six weeks. Because I left it I was off work for 6 months and couldn’t drive for five months. Don’t chance it, get it checked out. I’ve also buggered up my hand by not getting it checked for five weeks after a fall so am waiting for an ‘emergency’ X Ray and physio so don’t let your ankle go the same way!
