How often do you think imaginatively/creatively?

Since I was a child, when I wake up in the middle of the night for a wee (most days), I create a story in my head about what I am doing when I get back into bed.

It varies every time; I’m hiding in a cave, I am a child in an orphanage in the olden days getting into bed, I’ve just been saved from the burning desert in the nick of time, it is Christmas Eve, I’m sleeping outside and need to get warm. Being in a bomb shelter in the Blitz is a common theme….

I also like making up stories about fellow commuters’ minute details when on the bus/train; what is on their shopping list today, who has had a row with a friend, what they are reading etc; just thinking about their internal monologues and making up a narrative of their lives.

Anyone else do this?

Imagining the lives of passers by, yes!

Do you write?

dizzydizzydizzy · 14/05/2023 09:59

No! Never done anything like this. But I do like doing artistic things.

Bathroomlove · 14/05/2023 10:08

Nope. I have enough going on in my head without creating more stuff 🤣

I daydream quite a lot, particularly if I'm driving or going to sleep. I create entire other lives for myself in my head and live them out. I have about 4 'lives' that I dip into. Usually just better, more interesting versions of myself.... I rarely imagine about other people's lives.

Haven't really found anyone else who does this as I feel a bit bonkers saying it to anyone!

I have zero imagination, so could not begin to do that. Creative to me would be going about a work issue in a different way, rather than knitting etc.

@Crimblecrumble1990 I’ve been through phases where I lived almost completely in my fantasy lives - usually when real life was inescapably stressful.

These days (second career!) I do quite a bit of imagining in company with other people - it’s immensely satisfying.
