Buying flight no passport

Can I book a flight if one if us does not have a current passport?

We have a date scheduled to collect the new one in a couple of weeks.

Will the new passport have the same id number as the old one?

Obvs booking flight for after we have collected the new passport.

The new passport will have a different number, so I would wait until you've got the new one, unless it's super easy to amend the booking once you've made it.

I've booked holidays with no passport before... the passport information was only needed a few days before the flight

Depends on the airline I think. BA you don’t have to put the passport details in until check in. So I bought flights before I bought DS passport. But I know with Ryanair you only have 48 to change the traveller details, so I assume you have to put all the details in at time of booking (not flown with them recently).

You can book the flights, but before flying you will need to submit the passport numbers online.
Depends on how long there is between the flight and collecting your new passports.
Weeks, months , you’ll be fine.

If it is Ryan Air then passport only needed on check in so no problem to book flight

New passports have new numbers so don't put current details in

Yes sometimes you can book but don’t put old info. New passport will have new number.

Ryanair passport number doesn't go in til check in

TerfIngOnTheBeach · 14/05/2023 07:02

I’m not sure I’ve added ours to our easyJet booking for July yet.

TheOpenRoad · 14/05/2023 07:02

You don't need passport to book tickets, it's needed for check-in. And as PP have said, each new passport has a different number.

I’ve just booked flights for later in Autumn with Ryanair. They don’t require passport details until check in.
