Omaze Cotswold house 2023

After lots of speculation, someone has tracked down the Cotswolds house to GL55 6UR and it’s right next to a quarry/paving stone merchants. How loud do you think this would be? The house looks minuscule next to the quarry.

I just imagine having a lovely dip in the pool and there’s the sound of moving stone 😂

There is actually always something wrong with these houses, isn’t there.

I was going to enter this so thanks for the heads up! Not that I'd likely win. Same as the cash register on the radio 🙄

RubbishDay · 14/05/2023 18:58

For a few pounds to enter I wouldn't be bothered about having to sell it for less than they say it is worth. They also give you a lump sum so it's not as if you wouldn't have any money to cover the bills whilst it was on the market.

This is my neck of the woods.

The house is next to the quarry and there would be some noise, but less than living in some towns and cities. I am not sure if they use explosives there, but even so that is once in a blue moon. You won't hear much plant operating. At weekends it will be shut otherwise than for retail sales, and evenings too. The noise is a red herring. Dust is the bigger problem, but rain will wash that away from time to time. There are likely to be some 26 million worse places to live in the UK if you want peace and quiet.

Chatillon · 14/05/2023 18:59

Oh, and crime? Nope its lower than average I would say.

RubbishDay · 14/05/2023 19:02

And as PP said there are worst places to live.

I know of one isolated house that looks wonderful and happens to be near a quarry and the majority of times I walk past it you wouldn't know as there is no impact or noise. If someone gave it me for £25/50 I would be ecstatic.

I think the biggest issue would be traffic, I work near two and there are a lot of wagons going in and out. The roads are absolutely filthy too.

This one had a few issues with location...

The other thing about this one is that extraction is about finished. It is what they use the site for then that matters. There are many sites across the Cotswolds extracting stone - the Naunton quarry next to the Cotswold Farm Park is huge and extraction is ongoing (you can see the satellite images if you google). Many will be turned into water parks eventually, or used for landfill, but the one at Westington is likely to continue in some form of business use. Car storage sometimes.

redrobininmygarden · 14/05/2023 19:11

but for £10/£25 it's not bad deal at all. Omaze is business at the end of the day, they have to cover marketing costs, employees salaries , charity donation plus profit on top of it. Obviously they will buy a house from owner which is difficult to sell and get a bargain.

KingCharlesCoronation · 15/05/2023 15:12

I was going to enter. I won't bother with this one. Thanks

ChrisH59 · 25/06/2023 20:40

I have driven past this house many times...it was under construction starting about 3 years back. It is in a great setting just outside Chipping Campden. There is very little traffic....!

Chatillon · 25/06/2023 22:16

It is not the traffic that is the issue. It is what happens eventually with the quarry 30 yards away.
