SUV vs MPV Mid-Range Prices

We're on the look for another car as our 15 year old Subaru Impreza is dying. We have 3 kids in car seats ages 10, 7 and almost 2 and we need a seven seater.
We currently have a Vauxhall Astra hatchback.
Major criterion is space so we can carpool with the neighbours, bring kids friends home, enough space for bikes etc. Even if we didn't have a third child, we will still be looking for a seven seater.
Other criteria includes affordability (so no suggestions of X5, Tesla, XC90 😂), good legroom in the second row, reliability, good running costs.

We might be able to stretch to Kia Sorento/Hyundai Santa Fe but that's for a hybrid (Sorento).
I'm also looking at the Alhambra, Touran/Sharan (are they the same?), and Citroen/Renault/Peugeot (5008) but people tend to be wary of French cars.

So anyone with recommendations? Budget is up to €43k and at a push €50k for a hybrid. Any suggestions will be appreciated, also opinions from users of the above cars. Thank you.

Skoda Kodiaq? We don't have one but we do have the 5 seater Enyaq which is their electric SUV. Very impressed with it.

We used to have the Alhambra. It's the same as the VW Sharan although the interiors are different. The Touran is the smaller version.

Highly recommend VW sharan, we have two kids, but sometimes my parents come to stay with us (by flight) so we really needed a 7 seater. Sharan is so spacious, the electric sliding door is such a bonus, specially with kids when street/path/pavement is narrow. When not used as a 7 seater, there is just so much space at the back, very useful when going on holidays. We have had a Citroen grand picasso before and tried a few SUVs too, they look big on.the outside but still feel small inside.

Thanks @mafsfan and @erlangshen. My issue with the Kodiaq is that the second row seats are 2.5. My 10 year old will be out of the hbb in probably 2 years (very skinny) so could probably be in the middle. I don't want to have to use the second row for the three kids only.
The sharan and Alhambra sounds great but they seem to have stopped making them. Trying to stay focused on a seven seater although I love the Enyaq.

Just thought to update. We ended up getting a 2 year old Peugeot 5008. Sorento hybrid is out of our budget as too pricey. We didn't go for the Kodiaq or Tiguan Allspace because I wanted three full seats in the second row. Thanks for your input.

@VladimirVsVolodymyr how are you getting on with the Peugeot 5008?
Considering one for my family with 3 tweens all out of car seats, so decent back seat space needed with room for them to grow into teenagers, and a flat floor across the back is a must to avoid middle seat arguments!

VladimirVsVolodymyr · 28/04/2024 18:41

@NCfor24 apologies I missed this. Unfortunately I had to take the car back as it had so many issues that were found during a service a couple of months later. It was a great car and I was gutted to let it go but I had to.
The first and second row seats are very roomy and separate seats means everyone is comfortable. It drives really well and has a great boot. The third row hasn't got much room but if you do, pre teens or very small under 5' will be comfortable. Overall great car but our experience with the dealers put me off completely.
