Vinted complaint after sale completed

I have loads of successful sales, but today I’ve had my first complaint.

I’ve sold something, new in package, and after the sale auto completed today the buyer messaged me to complain the colour wasn’t right. They wanted one particular shade, which they thought my item was, and it was actually another shade. I had photos on the listing.

I can’t afford to refund this money, I need it for shopping, and they had the standard two days to check and ask for a return. I’ve messaged them staying sorry but the sale stands and recommended they sell in on.

But now I feel guilty. So WWYD in that situation? Am in right? Or am I wrong?

Tough luck. Buyer should have raised it as an issue earlier.

That makes me feel better. I know I’ve bought things that weren’t great for whatever reason (fit, colour) and I’ve always just chalked it up to luck of the draw.

No, they had time to raise any issues. And I'll be honest, with Vinted you have to be careful with the specific colour of items. People aren't fashion photographers, I put in the description a bit about the colour and if it's different to what the photo shows.

Like you said, they can sell it on.

I've had disappointing purchases from vinted before and just tend to chalk it up to one of these things, but I never buy anything expensive anyway.

Even if you listed the thing as black and it's actually navy, if they have clicked 'everything's ok' then there's nothing they can do. Vinted won't care, they don't get involved in refunds and stuff.

I actually did this myself, I clicked 'everything's ok' by accident when I wanted to raise an issue because a jacket had a hole that hadn't been advertised. Vinted customer service didn't care, it was my mistake to be fair and the seller blocked me when I tried to contact them so that was that. I just sold the jacket on myself (with the hole advertised!) and that's what your buyer can do if they want.

Not your fault OP 👍

Definitely don’t feel bad, it’s not your problem.

AddieLoggins2 · 13/05/2023 21:06

They should have raised it before the 2 days, so it's 100% on them. Definitely don't feel bad.

They should do what everyone else does when they buy something they don't like - sell it on.

I've got a jacket and a pair of jeans for sale at the moment that were vinted purchases that did fit/suit me when they arrived. I'll lose a bit of money on them because of postage but I just chalk it up to 'one of those things'. I've got lucky with some other bargains on there so it works itself out.

Yep, not your problem. BUT make sure you don't get another complaint.. My account got suspended after the second complaint, even though it wasn't my fault. And I know this happend with a lot of people like you can see on this public vinted complaint forum.

I know they try to stop scammers, but they ban a lot of legit sellers too.. and there is nothing you can do about it. They simply won't let you access their platform again.
