DIY Marquee for a wedding, are we mad?!

Has anyone done this? Want to keep things well in budget. Thinking of using our own garden and buying a marquee as the hire costs are so much. Is it even possible to get a decent one for fairly cheap?!

Thinking we may be able to either keep it for future events or sell it afterwards.
Would be for 30 guests.

We did this. We had a very low budget wedding- registry office and then back to ours. We don’t have a big garden.

It was brilliant and I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

we both agreed that we didn’t want a big fuss so it was perfect for us.

A friend of mine did this, she bought the marquee for her wedding and now has a really successful marquee hire business, life changing! She has some info about it on her website if you're interested - Peacock and Bow

Have you shopped around for a hire one? Eg our local Scout group hires out their marquee very reasonably. It might not have all the trimmings that a more expensive one does but it's a fraction of the price.

@tattychicken that's such a good idea I haven't thought about asking scouts or other organisations @rockinrollinru thanks they're too expensive for us though!

Alternatively you put a few of these together?Have have used them for parties and were fine. Maybe not substantial enough for a wedding though.
