How to keep track of whats in the chest freezer?

Hello,
I'm trying to find a way to keep track of whats in our chest freezer more effectively. Also to help more with meal planning to use food more efficiently and having less waste.
Does anyone know of an App where you can keep an inventory and also plan meals?? TIA 😊

Following this with interest as my freezer is like Narnia

Don't have an app but always thought having a white board nearby would work. Depending on what is surrounding the freezer you could write directly on it.

I have one basket for veg, one for carbs, one for meat and fish and other stuff just floats. Ice cream stands on the ledge.

Someone I know uses the outside of it as an actual whiteboard, and they use a whiteboard marker, attached by a magnet, and they use a piece of damp kitchen roll to wipe something off when all used up. Date and what has gone in. E.g. 2 April X 5 portions mince. Cross it off if used.

For meal prep meals they use a tally system to show what they've taken.

E.g. 2 April: 5 lasagnas - III (a tally to show they've taken three out.)

Ive tried keeping a paper list, and it just got a bit faffy tbh. I found new things weren't put on the list and when things got used it wasn't always crossed off.
So, I thought an app may be easier or more successful to use as it could be updated more easily if that makes sense.

Using a whiteboard marker on the freezer is a good idea, however I feel where our freezer is it would be too easily wiped off by accident.

I have a whiteboard system, just lists what’s actually in the freezer. The only problem arises when others put in/take stuff out and don’t adjust the numbers (eg: 3 bread to 2 bread). Every now and then we empty it and do a recount.

I keep a list on my phone. When it's about half empty I sometimes go through and just make sure my list tallies.

Moving the list to the phone would certainly make it easier for me but could potentially make it harder when DH buys things and has to remember to tell me to update the list (although the same problem occurs with the paper list tbf)

My mother in law has an excel spreadsheet which includes co-ordinates so you can quickly find what you’re looking for. It’s wonderful.

@MrsFionaCharming I can only aspire to that level of freezer organisation!
