Emergency alarm and floods in the south west

So.. floods in the south west and mudslides.. did anyone in the area get the emergency alert on their phones as wasn't this one of the reasons the government set up the emergency alerts? I know, I'm totally cynical about their 'reasons' but I mean, flash floods and mudslides - could have been life threatening? Or if not, how bad does it have to be before they use the alert system?! These alerts - what a load of tosh. We know what it's for.

But, hope everyone in that area is ok and you're through the worst.

What is it for?

The previous alert was a trial. Still being sorted out before it is fully in use, I believe.

To make sure that moaners don't run out of things to whinge about. 🙄

Silly, it’s obviously for injecting miniature aliens into your brain through a sharp piecing noise to the eardrum.

I was under the impression the service has been launched yet

It was very clear they were testing the system and when they did they found problems with it

Possibly Three have delayed it because many customers, including me, never got it at all and they said they would "liase" with the government to fix the issue.

I'm also surprised no one has ever said it will be used like in America for missing kids. Amber alerts with a description ping phones over there.
