Aibu to go to Dr.

So I had a few days of feeling rough, swollen glands, sore throat coughing phlegm. 3 weeks later and I'm still coughing a lot, sounds phlegmy or chesty but not coughing anything up. Am I wasting time going to Dr. ? More likely to be viral?

It could be asthma. Do you usually stay chesty and wheezy after a cold? Might be a good idea to get checked out if so, although some coughs go on for weeks and it's normal

Personally I wouldn't go to the GP if the only symptom is a cough. If you have been running a temp for 3 weeks or there are other symptoms then no harm in making a call. Our GP offers a phone appointment which might be a good way to get them to assess if you need to go in or not?

Thanks, I did use to have asthma as a child so might be worth a call, don't want to waste time.

NHS says you should go, but in reality it'll probably just go on its own. I've had a cough for over a month before after a virus. So basically, you wouldn't be unreasonable to go but I probably wouldn't.
