I'm working in an admin type role and feeling like I'm hitting a crossroads at the moment. Here are pros and cons:
Pros
- partially work from home
- I can do my job with my eyes closed and I'm normally finished by 2pm, though have to stay logged on until 5pm in case any work comes in.
- very very good annual leave allowance with the office shutting over Christmas
- can nip out for school run
- regular bonuses
Cons
- the office politics is dire. Bullying, checking up on members of staff, an active WhatsApp group all hours with pissed off comments on there.
- finding it increasingly difficult to switch off. Spend many hours feeling angry, upset, or wondering what the hell I've done this time.
- guilt over always nipping out for school run.
There is no leeway on office politics. I know because I've tried to address it before and it didn't end well for me. Mental health is definitely affected despite my best efforts.
What would you do?
