I bought a ready meal for my lunch and stupidly didn’t check if it could be microwaved!

It really depends on the meal and whether the food in it is cooked and needs reheating or if they are raw. Also make sure the tray is not foil before putting into the microwave as many oven cook ready made meals come in foil containers which can not be used in the microwave.

Ir really depends. For some ready-meals they do need to finish cooking, so need to go into an oven. Others just need heating up so can go in a microwave.

What is it?

Thanks both

It’s in a foil tray 😬 but I could put in onto a plate

Sainsbury’s taste the difference lamb moussaka 😋

It'll probably nicer in the oven as the top will go crispy, but it won't be 'unsafe' if microwaved.

It's going to be sloppy as hell heated up that quickly but as long as it's not in the foil and heated all the way through it wont do you any harm! It is not how Sainsbury's would want it preparing but you certainly will taste the difference... 😂

Yes, it's fine.

It's only because of the metal tray.

I'm not entirely sure what ready can't be cooked in the microwave from a food safety POV???

😂 thanks all. Might have to raid my emergency stash for a tin of soup, don’t really want to ruin what looks like a lovely meal

Didn’t fancy anything in my stash so I’ve been to the site snack wagon for a cob. £3.10 😮 glad I usually bring my own food!
