Cushion for a bony bottom!

It’s my uncle’s birthday soon, and I’d love to get him a comfy cushion for him to sit on.
He is very thin due to short bowel syndrome and gets very uncomfortable sitting for any length of time on any chair, even soft ones don’t have enough padding.
Does anybody have any experience/recommendations for cushions that would make life less painful for my lovely uncle?

I wonder about a wedge-shaped cushion because it just gently tips your sitting position so that you're not on your sitting bones so much. This'll depend on his age, posture etc. Or if it's his coccyx that's painful, you can get cushions with a cut-out for the tailbone.

He might find a pressure cushion comfortable and a physio or occupational therapist could recommend one for him or even a padded chair

Thank you both, I’ll have a look at those suggestions. He’s 76 and tall, he’s always had a ‘slouchy’ posture so the wedge shape might help with that? He says the pain is like a bed sore, so the pressure cushion would be a good shout also.

If he is bony has he got a bed sore, I would ask either a nurse or therapist to assess him properly and help him to get the right type or chair and cushion.

No, no current bed sores, and the medical side of it all just seems to have washed their hands of him, it doesn’t help that he and my aunt are the types to not want to ‘make a fuss’. 🙄Unfortunately I live nowhere near them so can’t really do much on that side of it all.

My husband had one of these and found it excellent. It's also easy to carry from place to place. https://www.stressnomore.co.uk/gelco-gseat-ultra-pressure-cushion-92141.html

Ooh, that does look good, portable too, thank you!
