I am 44, been with DP for 12 years and while we have have always intended to get hitched at some point, never really put a date or plan to it.
However, DP's father recently received a terminal cancer diagnosis with less than a year to live and my lovely thoughtful DP has asked me to marry him, to allow him to have his father our wedding AND I AM SO EXCITED 🤗I adore his family and cannot think of a better way to try and bring a little brightness into an incredibly dark time.
But I need a little advice from the Mumsnet Hive mind, DP while legally separated never completed the divorce proceedings and it seems like we are looking at minimum of 6 months to get a decree absolute through, is there any method to appeal for a quicker completion on compassionate grounds considering he has been legally separated for 14 years?
Or does anyone have any suggestions as to how we proceed to plan a wedding without knowing for sure his first marriage will be dissolved on time?
