Any hacks for stompa high sleeper beds

Trying to make DSs room a place he wants to spens more time in. The room is a small, just about a double but no more. Have been looking for mid/high sleepers. This one looks fab but is ££££. https://www.roomtogrow.co.uk/stompa-ck-highsleeper-bed-with-desk-and-chair-bed/

Anyone know any good alternatives? Would going with a local carpenter be any cheaper?

This ^ they’re solid and so expensive new.

Giselletheunicorn · 10/05/2023 21:47

I'd buy 2nd hand too. We have a Stompa and they are absolutely solid...

We had a second hand stompa it was fab. Sold it in for the same amount of money we paid for it which was I think £150. Sturdy as anything. We got ours off eBay. And sold it on eBay.

ikea have a similar one

They're a nightmare to change sheets - a hack for that would be good.

totally, but as they are for older kids, they can do it themselves.

My daughter hates hers. We’re just about to sell it. Had it a year and it cost a bloody fortune. I’d dig my heels in and make her use it, but she can’t sleep well in it, and is tired and grumpy as a result.

CheeseAndOnionIsMyFav · 10/05/2023 22:07

Whatever you buy, check the height of your child sat on the chair they'll be using if the desk is underneath!!

Agree that changing the sheets is a bit of a nightmare. If you have another child, I got them to change the highsleeper in exchange for me changing their bed. Now my 8yo does the sheet himself and he throws the rest down (and I just sling it back up when I've changed it) Grin

Agree with other posters to buy second hand. We did this for both dc and sold them on later for more than we paid for them.

Had ours from 3 to 15. Solid, perfect and second hand then. Now converted to lichen storage and surface. Not bad for £50

Same

We have 2, but we have the mid sleeper with the pull out desk. It used to be called a rondo but may be different now. They have survived 10 years and 2 house moves and are still perfect condition. Bought for child 1 and 2 and are now being used by child 3 and 4.

sheets are a nightmare as the mattress is slightly bigger. If you buy the extra deep fitted sheets they give you that extra little bit of wiggle room.

Also I would say that their customer service is great. We lost a few little bits in the move and they were super helpful.

Forestdweller11 · 10/05/2023 22:57

Second the customer service comment. We had no instructions so they emailed us a booklet.

GrabbyGabby · 11/05/2023 08:18

Thanks all good to know they are solid enough to buy second hand. Did you all buy locally for 2nd hand? We are car free so delivery preferable, but not sure that would even be a thing for items as big as this
