Hormones making me short tempered?

I'm currently at the maternity triage unit. The couple in the bay next to me have been scrolling through videos on their phones for over an hour, very loudly. The constant blasting of different songs/skits is genuinely making my blood boil. I'm hooked up to a monitor so can't go say anything, not that I think I would have anyway because I hate confrontation.

I mentioned it to the midwife who asked them to turn it down. The male starts ranting to his partner that he hates people, this is a public place why should he need headphones etc

I can totally accept that maybe my hormones are making me more sensitive and I'm being out of line. But I just think that the tinny sound of videos, changing every 5-10 seconds at full blast is just not right at the hospital? They're still playing their videos loudly and my blood pressure is going through the roof!! What do you guys think?

YANBU. But I'm afraid you can probably expect it in the postnatal ward as well.

I could sort of understand if they were stressed and using videos as a distraction from their worry about whatever has brought them to the triage unit. But they can and should still use headphones, and the guy's ranting makes me think actually he's just a selfish git.

It’s because it’s a public place that he needs headphones!

Sometimes you just have to be grateful you don’t have someone so selfish in your life. Hope they leave soon.

Well, the selfish arse should be using headphones as it’s a public place!

I’ve been in maternity triage more times than I want to remember over 3 pregnancies. It’s a place where you need to be quiet and respectful as you don’t go there for fun. You never know what hell the woman/couple in the next bay is going through.

People are wankers though.

Glad to hear I'm not being totally unreasonable. It's genuinely driving me crazy. This rise in blood pressure can't be good for the baby 😭
