I heard some great music coming from a car today and asked the driver what it was. I can't now remember! It sounded a bit classical. It was a man's name and the surname was Hollis or Cullis or something ending in 'is'

Can you narrow it down a bit "a bit classical" is quite a wide search area! eg, was it choral, orchestral, single instrument (which) etc?

more seriously, could be Holst or Tallis?

I can only think of the c16th composer Thomas Tallis, beautiful choral music.
