Wedding abroad planning help.

Engaged for 10m and planning an abroad wedding. We’ve always dreamed of marrying on a sandy beach, pretty low key but with a beautiful backdrop and closest friends and family (realistically we’ll have around 20-30 guests). We have 2 young children (under 5) and lots of our guests do too.

We’re looking at 2 years notice to give us time to save up, as I’m on maternity leave until October 2023.

No concerns over guest list politics. We’re very easy going and won’t fall out with anyone who can’t or simply doesn’t want to come. Simply undecided on a place and knowing how to plan a wedding abroad!

So far we’re thinking Greece or Mexico (have been to Rhodes, Corfu, Playa del Carmen and Rivieria Maya, loved them all hence the shortlist but open to options).

Would love to hear from British citizens who have legally married in either country - advice on what you loved, what you didn’t like, what you’d change. Venue recommendations, wedding planner recommendations. Cost, if that’s not too personal?!

TIA

We got married in kefalonia. We couldn't have the legal ceremony there as it had to be done in the uk so we did a quick registry office affair here and then had someone do a ceremony on the beach in Skala. Apart from parents none of our guests knew it's wasn't an official ceremony.
We hired a group of villas called villa brio, (not villa brio exclusive) they are 4 villas, I think about 4 bedrooms in each all with private pools and gardens. The main house had an infinity pool and access to a secluded beach.
I hired a wedding planner who helped organise and it was just perfect.
We had the reception around the infinity pool with a beautiful BBQ, and band.
We paid for the villas for our guests and all spent a week out there on holiday. It was just amazing.

With Mexico, do consider the Zika risk. It may put off a number of guests who would otherwise come.
