Conjunctivitis

My eye swelled up over the weekend randomly, by the night I could barely open it.

Waking up in the morning, it was stuck with crust and blood shot. I've bathed it with cool boiled water and I'm using an eye wash but it's becoming annoying now as I can't see out of it.

I'm presuming it's conjunctivitis, does anyone know how long it will last?

We all had this about two weeks ago and everyone at my son's nursery had it, including the staff. Super annoying!
All pharmacies in my area run out of eye drops for infected eyes, so we just waited it out. Within a couple of days of waking up from our eyes shut, red and swollen it started to get better. They stayed a bit puffed for a week or so, with less and less discharge every day. It lasted slightly more than a week in total.

I hope no one else catches it here. I can't drive because I can't see and I've got two kids to look after. The swelling is right down to my cheek too. What a pain! It just came out of nowhere!

Hiya, I had it for the first time a few months ago.. lasted about 12 days until I could say it had gone properly. It spread to the other eye on day 2. The eye drops helped it but you can only take those for 5 days, but they were the worst days. Mine were really swollen too. I called the GP but they told me to go to the pharmacy for the drops. Its nasty- I hope you feel better soon x

I also think mine was viral, not a bacteria as it came with a mild cold for all of us. Also, we were religious in not sharing towels etc and we still got it anyway. The worse part was over quite soon, then it was just annoying that I could not wear make up and people constantly asked me if I had been crying/not sleeping properly etc as I really looked like that was the case!
