BGT live semi finals

My oldest DS who is 12 tomorrow is autistic and obsessed with Britain’s Got Talent (any “got talent” tbh, there’s been many a day I’ve walked in to him watching e.g “Switzerland’s got talent” and not understanding a word of it…)
I’ve had email confirmation for semi final tickets for the Thurs in May. We’re on half term and up north so would have to cut our holiday short by a day and a half to go. Having read the small print, I’m now worried that as it’s a ticket to queue up for a place that we won’t get in. Has anyone done it before? What time did you arrive if so? Wanting to tell him for his birthday tomorrow but also don’t want him to get overexcited until case we don’t get in.

Hi @MummyLeg - I'm sorry you didn't get any replies to this! I'm searching for the same answers for my tickets for the semi on the Tuesday! Similarly don't want to get the timing wrong with a 10yo with ADHD and don't want to turn what could be a great experience into an absolute disaster!
Did you find any answers anywhere else?
I found a thread from last year that had people arriving at eg 10am, getting their tickets by 11am and coming back in the evening for the show - but that doesn't seem to quite tally up with the email I got saying arrive no later than 5pm, the ticketing will be open at least 2 hours before that. I don't want to turn up at 10am for no reason, but also don't want to turn up at 3pm and it's too late!
I'm trying to contact Applause Store via whatsapp. will report back if I hear anything.

Bellabellz18 · 23/05/2023 12:06

Hey also have tickets for Thursday but not too sure what time to get there! Any updates on applause store getting back to you?
Thanks in advance 😊

Hi, I did manage to get hold of applausestore via WhatsApp. They couldn't tell me much, I asked whether we needed to come in the morning, and the reply was We have never reached capacity by 11am in the show's history. However, we do not control when people arrive so I can't suggest when a good time to arrive would be, sorry. - so I think we'll get there around 10.30 and then go home again after, we're lucky to live less than an hour away. Still, definitely a bit of a palaver!!!

Just Got back from picking up BGT tickets from the Apollo - arrived at 10.30 queued up and was out at 11.30 with tickets. They are very strict on kids under 8 having birth certificates.

Told to arrive there for the show at 7pm bc seat were now reserved. -but not chancing so will return at 6pm .

Very organised.

Chawnafa · 29/05/2023 23:33

We have been today! It was amazing! We joined the queue about 10.20 there were quite a few in front of us (but plenty came after) they started giving out tickets soon after and we were away by 11.30 with our tickets and asked to come back for 7pm.

AvJo36 · 30/05/2023 00:15

hi, around 11am tickets begun being issued-BUT to priority first and then General tickets. Even by 11 am the queues were fairly heavy - you maybe lucky since it was a Bank Holiday today.

Jas77 · 31/05/2023 07:46

Hi there. We have a similar challenge to the thread and wondered if everyone has to be present to pick up the tickets? I can go with my 2 young kids but my my partner is working away and heading back for this afternoon. Any help is gratefully received.

Chawnafa · 31/05/2023 11:16

Unfortunately you do all have to be present to be issued with the tickets. This is stated in the email and also they re-confirmed this several times when we were in the queue.

MummyLeg · 31/05/2023 14:25

We’ve called it a day, all got too complex with train strikes going on too. All seemed like v high cost for us for so much that could go wrong. Really enjoying watching it and keeping fingers crossed for next year…

We went today (Wed 31st May), drove in due to train strikes. Arrived 10:45am, they checked ID and gave out wristbands, tickets were allocated from around 11am. We got ours by 11:30am. We returned at 6:45pm for show.

Note:
1 - Everyone attending need to be in the queue.
2 - Everyone needs official ID, they accepted pic of passport. This is including children and adults, not as proof of age, it's policy in the small print. They uphold this firmly, only five out of six in our group got tickets.

Great show for all, despite the very long day. It was possibly quieter than usual today with train strikes. Good luck to those heading out. Enjoy!

Ok, you need to accept that they probably won’t find the documents. I would do the following asap:

  1. email your MP. They should be able to help sort this
  2. apply for a fast track birth certificate here: https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate. It will cost £35 I’m afraid

let us know how you get on

Order a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate

Order an official birth, adoption, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate from the General Register Office (GRO) if you need a copy or want to research your family tree.

Sorry, wrong thread!

atlantamia · 02/06/2023 08:11

Hi, do they check that children have the same surname? I want to take my sister on Sunday but we have different surnames and i've emailed and they havent got back to me yet!

Chawnafa · 02/06/2023 09:50

I believe the rule for under 16 was if they do not have photo I.d (passport) then the name on the birth certificate has to match one of the adults in the party. So if your sister has photo I.D it's fine.

atlantamia · 02/06/2023 10:32

Thank you so much for this !
