Has anyone heard of drop selling?

And if you do it do you make any money from it? I'm thinking about trying it ( after I do som research) I have a niche idea of something I could sell but I'm not sure how I'd go about getting a wholesaler so that the bit I'm stuck on.

If there are established people on ebay / etsy already selling it then don’t bother, they will always undercut you as they can get better prices.
You generally need a business name and business bank account for wholesaler accounts plus there is HMRC to deal with.
We were drop shipping mountain boards ( fairly niche) a few years ago but ended
up being continually undercut by the big fish.

Thanks so much for your reply. Did you do it for long? And did you make any sort of money? My friend rents to get obsessive with these ideas, first it was crypto, then competition sites now this. He says people can make lots of money but I just don't want him wasting lots of money on a stupid idea if it something that only a few people succeed at.

We did it for 3 years, along with selling power kites and related stuff at events, we had a website too, in the end we just about broke even. If you aren’t making a 100% mark up on sales, you won’t get anywhere. The ‘big guys’ on ebay are making pennies but on a huge scale, it’s almost impossible to compete.

If you are talking about drop shipping as a result of some youtube video, I wouldn't bother. Amazon & Ebay have very strong regulations around dropshipping.

Generally, the only way to make money on marketplaces is to have a niche product (not one that Amazon sells as you cannot compete). To source wholesalers for it and to purchase the stock up front, not drop ship it
