Head tingling

Help a mumsnetter out who's convinced herself she has a brain tumour.

Last night I had a cold sensation in my head which I thought was a bit odd. I forgot about it today but here we are again tonight. Today it's more of a tingling sensation all over my head and my face a little bit too.

It's not like pins and needles, more like a gentle moving sensation all over. I'm starting to have a mild headache on one side too and feel like I want to close my eyes. Ive had 2 glasses of wine but feel like I've had way more and just need to go to bed.

Any ideas? I'm otherwise perfectly fine and it's so non descript, I'm not sure it warrants a call to 111.

For context, I've never suffered with migraines or anything like that. I do however suffer with anxiety, and a few times today caught myself with a racing heart for no reason whatsoever.

My mum died of a brain tumour which doesn't help the current spiralling :(

When I had this I had shingles on my scalp, the exact sensation you described!

HeadIssues · 06/05/2023 23:34

Thank you! Is shingles visible?

Going down a rabbit hole of googling and now think I may have a blood clot in my brain... send help!

I get this, my neurologist said they are silent migraines.
Sometimes it feels like ice cold water is being poured into my skull. Other times it feels like pins and needles running down my face, but not painful.
Maybe take a couple of painkillers and see if it stops?

It sounds a lot like my migraines. You might not have had them before but it doesn’t mean you aren’t having them now or haven’t clocked them as migraines in the past. If you’re worried then 111 can hopefully help, otherwise a GP appointment might be best.

This is a migraine symptom for me too.

I get this when I turn my head too fast to the right! This instant ice cold feeling followed by pins and needles. Only lasts a few minutes though.

Thank you, it sounds like a migraine is a possibility. The tingling feeling and pain are gone this morning, but overall just feel a bit delicate.

I get this with migraines. Also, I had it when I had covid and also sometimes if I'm coming down with a virus.

HeadIssues · 07/05/2023 07:08

@Armeins I have been wondering about Covid. Both DC have had a bad cough this week, and when I had Covid a couple of years ago my only symptoms were a mild headache and anxiety/insomnia.

Hopefully it's just that and I'll be back to normal in a few days.
