Hello fresh menus

I'm thinking of trying hello fresh as I've got a code for a good discount. But am I right in thinking you can only see the menus once you have signed up? I only want to see what they offer to see if it would work for our family.

On gousto you can see menus just by putting in your postcode.

Thanks!

Yes that’s right. You can cancel straight away though.

I use both Gousto and Hello Fresh - HF is slightly more expensive but the meals are much tastier IMO. Gousto ones tend to be quicker to prepare but less flavoured.

HF is worth trying though so I’d just sign up and try it for a week!

I don't know how you can see the menu, but when we did it, it was largely variations on burger, stir fry, fajitas/wraps, repeat. I didn't find it particularly inspiring and the portion sizes were small unless you added in extra things like salads or sides you made yourself. I think we had to order a 5 person meal to feed 2 adults, a primary aged child and a toddler. I think if you can't cook at all, it's a good way to learn some new recipes and get some practice though. I'd just hoped it would save us time in the week, but it was no less effort than just buying some egg noodles and making my own stir fried noodles (and more expensive).

I've just gone to hellofresh.co.uk and clicked on 'Our Menus' from the drop down menu and can see the menu list. I've never signed up.

If I get a good deal by email I buy the box for the ingredients only (choose based on what I like to cook with) and just make my own
meals. The meals are largely uninspired and repetitive

I'd say the opposite Grin HF trials I've done I've ended up no bothering as meal choice is rubbish. Gousto meals I still make from the cards now, years on

That’s interesting!

I had a Gousto tomato sauce this week which was tomato, Basil, garlic and oil. With HF you’d usually add su dried tomato paste and/or red wine stock, but it was still tasty. The gousto recipes themselves are nice though.

interesting that a PP said they needed a 5 person box for 2 adults and 2 young kids too. We are the opposite, buy for 4 people and usually end up with leftovers… my friends are the same, always have leftovers.

I think they get very repetitive and there is a lot of mince. But they are worth it to me when on offer. I think the portions are pretty generous.
