Is anyone else watching alone and fancying a thread to chat about the coverage?

Not keen on the blue on the horses? What's that about?

Royal blue maybe?

WeWereInParis · 06/05/2023 10:36

Tirrrrred · 06/05/2023 10:35

Why is Katie Perry there?

Did no one tell Charlene White the colour of the protesters?

And bloody Ant and Dec??

Tirrrrred · 06/05/2023 10:36

@MrsFinkelstein Ah thank you

fairgame84 · 06/05/2023 10:35

I feel sorry for the soldiers on the naughty horses, 2 were going sideways and one turned and did a 180!

Oh. I missed the 180! Bless them, lots of reassurance during the coronation hopefully

Babymamamama · 06/05/2023 10:36

Just joining late to the party! I am alone I guess as DD prefers to be on tick-tock than watch with me. Are we on bbc or itv or flicking between?

fireplacetiles · 06/05/2023 10:36

Will the horse with the drums on its back have its ears protected?

TucSandwich · 06/05/2023 10:37

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 06/05/2023 10:35

The colour on the BBC is crap compared to ITV.

Ah yes it is. And you can hear the crowd more, which is nice.

maidmarianne · 06/05/2023 10:37

What's going on with the horses? And why can't claire balding explain? She must know more than most!
They seem to keep walking side ways or nuzzling each other. I know nothing about horses, I thought they were trained for this kind of stuff but I don't understand why they keep doing sideways.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 06/05/2023 10:37

I like that big brown drummer horse (does the horse wear earplugs?)

IAmNotOkay · 06/05/2023 10:37

Imagine being a police officer on duty and saying “but I never saw anything as I had to stand with my back to the procession”.

Why we’re there no people near that huge area of railings? Such a shame when there will be people crowded in other parts unable to see.

YaWeeFurryBastard · 06/05/2023 10:37

Chatillon · 06/05/2023 10:36

I have been around horses all my life. I can see many, many relaxed horses. I can see one or two with nervous energy. I can’t see any distressed horses.

I can hear lots of anti establishment.

This! Another one with decades of horse experience here and they are not distressed.

Did she just say that Admiralty Arch is going to be turned in to a hotel??

It was bought by the Reuben brothers so I believe it will be a Waldorf Astoria hotel, no idea how long it will take them to do though given they can't change the outside (I would have thought).

Yiayoula · 06/05/2023 10:37

Switching between channels here, missed that about Admiralty Arch !

Qilin · 06/05/2023 10:37

And bloody Ant and Dec??

They are there due to the work with the Prince's Trust from what I remember.

LadyEloise1 · 06/05/2023 10:37

SoupDragon · 06/05/2023 10:33

I wonder what's spooking the horses - this is what they're trained for. Obviously they're animals and it's noisy with lots of distractions but they seem unusually spooked.

I think so too.
I've not seen so many spooked in other Royal processions.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 06/05/2023 10:38

Yep much preferring ITV coverage for both sound and picture quality

IheartNiles · 06/05/2023 10:38

The horses are fine and well cared for. Probably just a bit frustrated, a lot of waiting around then a slow walk. It’s noisy and probably quite exciting.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 06/05/2023 10:38

It looks very different to the funeral of the Queen.

Don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade and I wanted to watch this but with all the pointless celebs being there and Camilla grinning like a Cheshire Cat I think I’ll switch off.

Heroicallyfound · 06/05/2023 10:38

NurseCranesRolodex · 06/05/2023 10:36

Royal blue maybe?

Commentator on BBC said Charles chose the blue over the usual red.

All the banners are blue as well eg the ‘happy and glorious’ sign on Admiralty Arch.

They didn’t say why he chose it though?? Feels like a political statement

fireplacetiles · 06/05/2023 10:38

Sky news have split screen so much better, royals arriving

YaWeeFurryBastard · 06/05/2023 10:38

The drum horses usually have big ears of cotton wool stuffed in their ears 🙂

Tirrrrred · 06/05/2023 10:38

I only watch to see the celebs / family.

Paul2023 · 06/05/2023 10:38

I’m sure the horses are just fine. They are looked after well, and have rehearsed this many times over.

WeWereInParis · 06/05/2023 10:38

Why have we missed the foreign royals and their dresses?? How annoying

TitsInAbsentia · 06/05/2023 10:38

TucSandwich · 06/05/2023 10:37

Ah yes it is. And you can hear the crowd more, which is nice.

Who is doing the ITV commentary though? I usually prefer the BBC presenters.
