Do you remember this 80’s biscuit ?

It was in a tin, the type you get at Xmas. It was a round shortbread type biscuit with a disc of pink icing in the middle ?
Does anyone remember what the brand was ?

Does anyone remember sainsburys bran biscuits? Shaped like a ryvita but a flat rectangle of bran and sugar? It was more self harm than a biscuit.

Dm used to buy them to eat with ovaltine.

This thread is making me think of all the iced biscuits of yore. Does anyone remember these? They didn't taste of anything much but had a distinctive crisp texture.

Oooh I loved cafe noir, the icing kind of fizzled if you licked it…. (Completely misses the point of the thread 🤣)

They were in Family Circle biscuit assortments, the one on the left of this picture. They were delicious, my brother would try and take them all.

I've circled the one I think it is. I have fond memories of these. They came variously as a 2 or 3 stripe if I remember correctly. Crawfords has been taken over by Mcvities and they've changed a lot of their biscuits. I can no longer get the pink wafers I like :(

There are iced biscuits in this tin. We used to get tins like this in a hamper at Christmas that my mum paid for all year. There was always a box of peppermint leaves as well which I loved.

I miss coffee custard cream biscuits.

I remember the icing as being all pink, and possibly sat down into the biscuit, but that’s close.

I absolutely remember exactly what you’re thinking of, especially the icing being sunk into the biscuit. Almost like a flat jam tart. I also have a distant memory there may have been a yellow icing version too. I cannot remember the name or brand though. The Iced Shorties are similar but their icing is hard, the ones I’m thinking of had much softer icing.

Coffee love...

I’d forgotten all about these! I can almost taste them now.

BooksAndHooks · 05/05/2023 22:39

They were my favourite they were like the jam ones but pink strawberry cream, also had a coffee custard cream type biscuit.

None of the selection boxes are the same without them. I loved these as a child.

I think this is unlocking a horrid biscuit memory. I’m not 100% certain but there is some sort of recollection of something like this teasing my braincells.

Cafe Noir, on the other hand, were gorgeous. I don’t even like coffee but I loved them.

Iced shorties from the Rover election Tim are the only ones I can remember that fit OP’s description.

Love cafe noir biscuits

Oh that’s it! At least that’s definitely what I am thinking of - that pink iced one on h the left. I’ve found pictures of Family Circle with the same biscuit in yellow icing - as I had remembered. But I can’t find the actual name of the individual biscuit

I used to love these. They must've been sold somewhere else too as in Glasgow in the 80's, we didn't have Sainsburys.

FrostieBoabby · 05/05/2023 22:57

OMG I loved the iced Rover biscuits 😍 Vaguely remember licking the sugary icing off Squid Game style.

I feel like I know exactly what you mean. Was it these? No idea what they’re called.

No, the icing was hard and on the top.

That looks very much like it, but I don’t remember the coconut on top. But that’s the closest.

Coffee ones were Cafe Noir. Don't seem to be able to get them any more.

You can often get them in places like B&M or Home Bargains, they still gorgeous!

Maybe it was this as it’s the right type of bis, and the icing is sat inside the biscuit.
We had good biscuits back I the day ! Do you remember the oblong biscuit with marshmallow, jam and coconut on top ? Loved them.

OP posts:
DustyLee123 · 06/05/2023 07:21

The icing is the same, but it was sat inside the biscuit, so there was a rim of biscuit around the edge. And it came in a tin with other biscuits.

DustyLee123 · 06/05/2023 07:22

I’m pretty sure that it’s the Family Circle one, and I just don’t remember the coconut.

Dm shopped at Carrefour too which became Asda in our area.

Just glad they were real and not one of my repressed false memories 😂
