Watching TOTP from early 80’s. They’ve all got yellow crooked teeth. Even the ones with whiteish teeth are still yellow.

And l must have been conditioned by the brilliant white smiles of today. Because they look so yellow. Yet l never noticed any yellow teeth in the 80’s!

I was a child in the 80's and remember having regular scrape and polishes at the dentist. Lots of my friends had braces from a younger age than they do now.

Maybe the Top of the Pops gang didn't see a dentist or weren't particularly bothered about how well they cleaned their teeth.

I don’t think it’s about cleanliness or dentists. It’s about the fact that whenever l watch tv now, everyone has got bright white teeth. And it’s the norm😲

I don’t think so. I noticed it on Takes if the Unexpected too! I know lots of people smoked, but not everyone.

A row of immaculate unnaturally pearly white teeth back then looked like dentures.
To be honest they still do.

I watched an old TOTP with DD who was shocked that the women almost all had small breasts. The idea that Pan's People had normal, slim, athletic figures was outrageous to a girl who has grown up seeing everyone with boob jobs.
