I'd like something modern and uplifting, a bit chick-lit but well written and funny. Do you have any reccomendations? I love Beth O Leary books, Matt Haig, I loved The Rosie Project books, Queenie, Such a Fun Age...

I'd love some help, rushing before a train! Thanks

Buy this

It's not my normal sort of read (I usually read crime novels/thrillers) but I absolutely loved it. It's very heartwarming and poignant in parts.

It's not modern though! But very uplifting and funny.

Sorry, dodgy linking there. But Eleanor Oliphant is Completely fine seems to fulfil your brief.

I loved Eleanor Oliphant!

Thanks- went for Lessons in Chemistry and a thriller type too called The Maid Smile

OP I know you are sorted but there is no finer book for a train journey than 'London, With Love' - it's so, so readable. I really loved having it in my life. It's about teenage friends (boy and girl) whose stars so nearly align through decades.

Oh great! Lessons in chemistry is next up for me too. Enjoy!
