Does your family have any quirks?

We share one drink for 3 people if watching tv.Just water or soft drinks, never hot drinks or alchohol. The glass will get filled as and when but its only ever one glass.

Don't know how it started but it's so normal to us now.
We're weird aren't we?

I don’t think it’s crazily disgusting but I can’t imagine doing this. Other than a glass of wine, I don’t sip drinks. If I get myself a glass of water it will be to drink the whole glass immediately. I can’t imagine passing round a glass of water and each person taking a small sip and passing it on to the next person.

Surprised people are getting so up in arms about this! I would gladly share a drink with the rest of my family and we often drink from one water bottle when hiking for example. When we go for ice cream we all lick each others’ to try the different flavours which I would have thought was fairly standard behaviour?!

No doubt we do have quirks but I can’t really think what they’d be since everything we do is normal to us…

yeah we do too, but I just can't see the 'point' of sharing drinks at home? It's not lie there's no extra cups etc

I’m always a bit puzzled by the idea ‘drinking in your DH glass is 🤮🤮🤮’
Dont you have sex? As in oral sex? Don’t you kiss, as in a full on kiss with tongue etc…?

Surely that should be much more 🤢🤢 germ wise than sharing a drink?

flipent · 04/05/2023 12:11

I'm baffled by the number of comments referring 'backwash'. How are you drinking?! I don't take a sip and spit half of it back into the glass!

I assume they’re referring to the kids, I will usually just take one big water bottle on days out but try and get in there before my 5yo goes to town 😂

Baffled by people who don’t share with their DH though, surely you swap germs regardless?

Oh, I don’t really see the point either, I’m just surprised most people find it really grim. I guess it’s just one of those habits the family has developed and stuck with!

Great idea to save on washing up. I’m starting the trend tonight 😂

We have a pair of garden slippers that we all share, (big pink fluffy ones) obvs if we all go all out at once we all put our own shoes on but if just the one person goes out to put the bin out etc the same pair of garden slippers go on 🤣🤣

We're the same with my crocs 🤣

Harringtonperle · 05/05/2023 16:25

I don't think it's weird, ur sharing germs anyway. My kids will often take a swig of my squash / fizzy drink

Vile

Sharing a glass with someone your regular kiss ?

MsFannySqueers · 05/05/2023 16:36

I once saw a woman sat in a cafe with a little dog on her knee. They were taking it in turns to lick an ice cream cone. My DM when we were children used to cut a Mars bar into three equal parts for me and my two sisters. This was probably due more to economy than a quirk. My DF used to line our shoes with a little bit of carpet when the soles were worn through made them last a bit longer.

Rufusroo · 07/05/2023 14:55

Just watched the Coronation - Justin Welby and two senior clerics shared Eucharist together. Absolutely disgusted with what I witnessed - they shared the goblet of wine!! They each took a sip - from the SAME cup!! Eeeugh! What about the backwash from such eminent men of God?!

Shock Wow GIF

Was this you at the café??

GalileoHumpkins · 07/05/2023 18:50

It's not logical but I do find that rank, what if someone leaves a bit of 'mouth stuff' on the glass? Even thinking about it makes me gag.

MsFannySqueers · 07/05/2023 19:00

@00100001 Ha ha that’s funny! I wasn’t that shocked to be honest I am old now nothing surprises me much anymore. Plus luckily I wasn’t expected to share the ice cream with them😂

shivawn · 08/05/2023 15:55

Hedjwitch · 08/05/2023 16:08

If the family are gathered and there is a tin of chocolates going round, it is custom to roll up the sweet papers into a ball and flick them at someone. We are all used to it but it startles guest initially. They always end up joining in tho

GracePalmer33 · 08/05/2023 17:24

Haha I don't think it's that weird. I'd share a drink with anyone in my family.
