Long champ is good and holds a lot but may be out of budget. A tote with an organiser for the plane then take the organiser out for the beach?

I'm a big fan of Longchamp.

In the UK, they are sold in high end department stores and airport shops. I got mine (one small, one large) in a French supermarket for buttons. Only wish I had bought more

They really do fold up like origami. I carry both, one folded inside the other. Both the large and the small one fit into the other once folded.

Genius.

Grumpafrump · 03/05/2023 18:24

I came on to say you should go for the big Longchamp tote, but I see I have been beaten to it! Super practical bags, and absolutely perfect for both beach and flying.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/05/2023 18:28

Longchamp are brilliant, but at almost £100 a pop, I wouldn't want it on the beach.

Snowjokes · 03/05/2023 18:29

Definitely a Longchamp le Pliage, or a rip off version if that’s out of budget. Look for one with a zip closure, long enough handles that you can put it over your shoulder if you need your hands free and a fabric that won’t mark too badly.

Definitely a longchamp. I’m on my 5th in 10 years I use them non stop

Tbh this is my most handy plane/beach/kids crap bag and it was about a fiver from Primark. Big, linen, light as a feather, goes in the washing machine and I don't care if it gets sandy.

I'd be really sad if I spent £100 and it only lasted 2 years.

I have to be honest I don’t treat bags well. All my own doing

Roselilly36 · 03/05/2023 18:33

I use a Kipling bag, very lightweight, waterproof and holds so much stuff.

Peony15 · 03/05/2023 18:34

Longchamp without a doubt , sturdy , chic , foldable , tons of colours, styles, sizes. Not the cheapest , last ages. Such a multi tasking brand

SoupDragon · 03/05/2023 18:35

OP : "not a big budget"
MN: how about this £100 bag?

🤦🏻‍♀️

Ikr!

However having been around these parts a while, £100 really isn't much in comparison to the usual Style & Neauty bag chats

JetWashingIsMyHobby · 03/05/2023 18:46

Longchamp bag from Vinted for £20.

Ooh I'll check out the prices when I go to France soon as I need a pliage to replace my current beloved bag that's wearing out made of similar nylon material

CharlotteStreetW1 · 03/05/2023 18:49

I treated myself to the Le Pliage but I don't fancy risking it at the beach. There's a very cheap version on Amazon for £12.99 which will probably only last one holiday but would certainly do the trick.

I also have a couple of the Reisenthal shoppers (handles long enough to go on your shoulder) which are about £16 - they're great.

I’ve just bought this bag: https://www.accessorize.com/uk/orange-and-lemon-embroidered-tote-bag-5902071500.html
It zips up at the top which is really important for the plane/airport so you don’t accidentally spill your stuff everywhere. I use pouches inside to make it easier to find stuff.

Call me unfashionable but it’s got to be a backpack for me so you can have your hands free around the airport. And you definitely need something that fastens or you’ll be retrieving your belongings from all over the overhead locker or back row of the plane (things roll if they fall out under your seat!).

PeacheyPeach · 03/05/2023 21:11

Oh wow thank you everyone. 😊 I will get on vinted now and see if I can pick up a longchamp one or something similar!!
