Tubes tied during c section

Posting here for traffic as have tried related boards with no luck……

39 baby number 2 due autumn need to have c section due to medical issues from previous natural birth

want to (and ok’d by consultant) to have tubes tied during c section just worrying about any side effects going forward

read that it only adds 5 mins to operation and doesn’t lengthen recovery time really but just wondering if anyone who has had it done could share their opinions

any side effects….. recovery, periods, hormonally?

want to get some opinions before deciding 100%

thank you xx

I've had two c-sections and had my tubes tied in the second one. Other than a really short extra bit of the op, it didn't feel any different and nor did the recovery.

I've had 4 sections and had it done during my last one. I barely noticed the side effects as I was recovering from the section anyway. I have heavier more painful periods since, sometimes with clots, but I am glad I had it done and it's been effective. I'm normally very fertile and usually conceived quickly but I've not fell pregnant in 5 years.

Thank you both I’m 99% there just wanted to get some opinions from people who had been there done that

the pill doesn’t suit me tried quite a few and mood swings weight gain and fell pregnant on the last one so don’t want to be on that for years to come

definitely done at 2 so happy to do something more permanent

always had quite heavy periods so hopefully won’t notice much difference x

If you're sure you want it, I'd definitely suggest having it done during the section because they'll just do it while you're already open, rather than you going in and having keyhole. I think it added about 20 mins to the operation. And it's a great feeling not having to worry about contraception.

My sister had it done under the same circumstances as OP. No side effects and a lot of peace of mind.
